I got my right nostril pierced 5 years ago and I was told to use the regular dial yellow antibactial liquid soap inside and out 3-5 times a day and also saline solution inside and out 3-5 times a day for 6-8 weeks. I did this and had absolutely no problems. My right nostril has been perfectly fine and I don’t wear a nose ring everyday now cause its permanently open. As i read earlier that there were concerns about fibers from cotton balls and qtips, my solution at that was to thoroughly clean my hands especially under my nails and put soap on my finger and clean the inside of the nostril. Rinsing all the soap out is really important so if you can, inhale water into your nostril, be careful to not completely inhale it, just enough to get to the piercing, (it’s like being in a pool underwater without holding your nose). This seems odd but it works. You must rinse the antibacterial soap out thoroughly. Now today I had my left nostril done (so that i can have a choice on which side i want to wear or both) by a different piercer and I was given the same exact instructions. You can’t be lazy taking care of your new piercing, if you put the time and energy into it, you will have less problems and the time will fly by. I have been told both times not to change the piercing until it is completely healed at 8 weeks, so make sure you like what you have your nose pierced with. Putting the time in care into your piercing is worth it. I hope this helps someone.

I got my nose peirced yesterday , and they used the gun . And today I noticed the swelling has gone down a bit .. But my stud seems to be sticking out a bit .. I can see the begging on the metal bar .. I try to push it back on but it will just come back out .. I’d that normal ? What should I do ?

carlie, buy some camomile tea bags soak one in hot water then apply it to your nose piecing have it as hot as you can stand it but not too hot that it will burn. Do this 3 times a day and the bump and any infection will be gone. I was told this by a professional piercer and have used it myself with great success.

hey i just got my nose pierced about 3 weeks ago and it has a red ring,bump around my screw it wont go away what can i try ??????

@janelle yes you’ll be fine, that happened to me not to long ago. as long as you cleaned it and inserted as soon as possible, you’ll be fine.
I was wondering, does anyone else have a backless nose piercing like I do? also how do i clean it without fear of it falling out?

Hi, i just got my nostril pierced, and they told me it take 6 months to a year to heal. You said 4-6 weeks. I like the sound of that better. Would you say its safe to change after 6 weeks?

Hey guys! So I pierced my nose yesterday with a trusted piercer who has pierced my belly button and my moms tongue etc. Today when I woke up the stud was sticking out a bit. He said this would happen and wouldn’t lay flat until healed completely, but i was wondering if this has occurred to anyone else? also today since it’s sticking out I accidentally brushed it with my hand and it fell out. Immediately I sprayed my nose with bactine and the stud and put it back in. When it fell out it bled a little bit. I was wondering if it’s going to be okay?

Just got my nose pierced today, and the gun stung like a bitch!
It doesnt really hurt now tho, just throbs. Well i was just admiring my amazing nose piercing then i noticed the inside was swollen! And i thought “oh!” damn, is it supposed to be like that?…. then i started touching it and poking it and i thought oh my god…. its infected! :O the man at the piercing studio didnt even tell me what i was supposed to do really, so i kinda worried. especially when my dad said to me that if i dont twist it then my skin will heal over the piercing, because its acting as a wound in my body. So thank you so so much for this info. It was needed! This is gonna be bookmarked in my browswer Thank you.
